Bharat Vikas Parishad – Alipore Branch successfully celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June, 2026 at Nibaron Roy Primary School, Tarkeshwar, with active participation from students, teachers, local residents and members of the Parishad.
The programme commenced with the rendition of Vande Mataram, setting a patriotic and inspiring tone for the day. The members of Bharat Vikas Parishad were warmly felicitated by the school authorities in recognition of their contribution towards social and environmental causes.
A Drawing Competition on the theme of Environment was organised for students of Classes I to IV, divided into two groups. The children enthusiastically expressed their thoughts and creativity through colourful paintings highlighting the importance of protecting nature and preserving the environment.
As part of the plantation drive, nearly 20 fruit-bearing saplings including Jackfruit, Guava, Jamrul, Kala Jamun and Sapeda (Chikoo) were planted in the adjacent school garden. The plantation activity was undertaken with the objective of creating a greener environment and providing long-term benefits to future generations of students.
A special programme was held to felicitate several former students of the school who are now successfully pursuing higher education, inspiring the younger students to strive for excellence and academic achievement.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Drawing Competition in both groups. First, Second and Third Prizes were awarded to the best entries in each category, while Certificates of Participation were presented to all students who participated in the competition, encouraging them to continue nurturing their creativity and environmental awareness.
The Parishad also distributed food packets and chocolates among the students, bringing joy and excitement to the children.
The Founder of the School shared the inspiring journey of the institution since its establishment in 1975, highlighting its contribution towards education and social development in the region.
Smt. *Indrani Netram, Seva Convenor of Bharat Vikas Parishad – Alipore Branch, introduced the mission and activities of Bharat Vikas Parishad and explained how the organisation contributes towards *Nation Building through its five guiding principles – Sampark, Sahayog, Sanskar, Seva and Samarpan. Her address was well received by the students, teachers and guests present.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from many local residents, making the celebration a meaningful community event.
The event was attended by *7 members of Bharat Vikas Parishad – Alipore Branch, who collectively contributed approximately *72 man-hours towards planning, organising and successfully conducting the programme. The Branch incurred an expenditure of approximately ₹13,500/- towards saplings, fertiliser, fencing, prizes, certificates, food packets, chocolates and other programme-related arrangements, reflecting its continued commitment towards environmental awareness, community development and nation-building activities.
The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem – Jana Gana Mana.
