Our Hooghly branch of BVP runs a permanent project on SEWA ( Cataract Micro surgery &allied eye ailments) for approximately last five years exclusively for those people,who belong to the socio-economically disadvantaged segment ; means who can not afford to bear the expenditure for operation and postoperative care .
Initially patients are identified from different villages of the district by our members. Later they are sent to the Rotary Eye Hospital for screening of Cataract/ allied ailments if any. After medical screening, patients are taken to same hospital on a scheduled date for micro surgery. Later, postoperative care and follow up are also organised by BVP team.

On 9th. June ,2026 three patients had been operated upon; namely Ms. Tandra Pal, Golam Najiruddin,and Sri. Ram Das.
